The Project Manager (PM) oversees all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The PM may be responsible for several projects at a time.
Role Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership and Team Coordination: Recommends improvements for tools and procedures, documents team performance, staffs and assigns roles within project teams, and leads team efforts to ensure successful outcomes. Works closely with site managers to oversee activities and occasionally acts as site manager for smaller projects.
- Customer and Contract Management: Maintains open communication with customers, ensures adherence to contract terms, assesses risks and opportunities, and upholds quality and contract compliance. Manages customer relationships, reviews service reports, and coordinates information flow among internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Financial and Operational Oversight: Monitors project performance, manages budgets, approves purchase orders and invoices, and follows up on unpaid invoices. Conducts project profitability analysis, oversees revenue recognition, drives project reviews, manages change requests, and supports sales in preparing quotes and proposals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma with 6 years in the marine, electrical engineering, or diesel engine sectors; alternatively, an associate degree with 4 years’ experience or a bachelor's degree with 2 years’ experience in similar fields.
- Project management certification, strong organizational and multitasking skills, integrity, leadership, and the ability to build trust and credibility. Strong knowledge of project finance, legal terms, and cost models is beneficial.
- Proven experience in customer relations and the ability to negotiate effectively with shipyards and customers. Familiarity with SAP, safety and quality protocols, and specific industry experience (cruise or offshore oil and gas) are highly valued, along with excellent communication and presentation abilities
